Praise Assembly Ministry

The Odenton Church of God Praise Assembly understands the importance of worship, praise and unity. We have a heart for God and a heart for his people. As we express our love and appreciation to God through song and lyrics, the whole congregation can follow.

Psalm 66:2, “Sing out the honor of His name; Make His praise glorious.”

Above & Beyond Ministry

Above & Beyond Ministry provides spiritual guidance, food assistance and financial education classes. In addition, Above & Beyond features a special area of ministry, praise dancing, which focuses on leadership development through quarterly team-building activities and events for each member.

Audio & Visual Ministry

The Audio and Visual Ministry is designed to provide a smooth presentation in the use of sound and lighting for the effective communication of God’s Word in the church.

2 Chronicles 5:13, “indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the Lord, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the Lord, saying:

‘For He is good, For His mercy endures forever,’ that the house, the house of the Lord, was filled with a cloud,'”

Worship Team Ministry

The Odenton Church of God Worship Team aligns ourselves with Pastor’s vision as we go forth in faith. We are grounded in prayer, passion and pursuit as we diligently seek God to guide us as we lead the congregation into the presence of God.

Joshua 1:3-7, “Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. …”

Youth & Young Adult

Youth Ministry

Impact Student Ministries believes all students are called to be a witness of the true and living God. We believe the Holy Spirit dwells inside of all youth, and their spiritual gifts allow them to impact the world. We also believe in training students to be well versed in the Word of God, and we train students to apply the word to their daily lives. The motto at Impact is: Be A Voice Not An Echo.

1 Timothy 4:12, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.”

Young Adult Ministry

NEXT Young Adult Ministry was formed to create community with young men and women as we strive to build young leaders in Christ. In an effort to use our stories and testimonies to minister to our generation and the generations to come, we use the word and sword of the spirit as our foundation.
Revelation 12:11, “And they overcame him by the blood of the lamb and by the word of their testimony and they did not love their lives to the death.”

God’s Angels Children’s Ministry

The God’s Angel Children’s Ministry’s mission is to help kids learn and understand God’s will for their lives while having fun! Children are blessings from God to reach his people.

Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go,And when he is old he will not depart from it.”

Nursery Church Ministry

The Nursery Church’s focus is to train children at the early stages of life, birth to pre-K, in the Word of God. As children are developing during this stage, we hope to provide a nurturing foundation for a healthy spiritual life.

Matthew 19:14, “But Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.'”

Small Groups Community Bible Studies Ministry

Community Bible Studies and Sunday Evening Bible Study are an extension of the church’s mission to train and equip individuals in the Word of God. This ministry seeks to support relational and spiritual growth among attendees.

Acts 2:46, “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,”

Special Education Ministry

We are currently developing our special education department.  We desire to meet the spiritual needs of the individual learner as they grow in God’s care and love.

Psalm 139:14, “I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.”

Tutoring Ministry

The Tutoring Ministry was started to meet the needs of students who are having a tough time believing in themselves by providing a support system that believes in them. It is easy to say, “I’ll be praying for you,” when faced with an academic challenge, but it’s more beneficial to say, “I want to walk with you, pray with you, and guide you.” That is the goal of this ministry: to lead others to persevere and not give up when it gets hard. Finish Strong!

Hebrews 12:1-2, “¹Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Stewardship Ministry

The Stewardship Ministry strives to increase every member’s understanding of the theological and biblical basis of stewardship of our time, our talent and our treasure. Our major emphasis is to communicate to the congregation on the connection between our faith and the blessings we have been given by God and how as God’s people we have an obligation to use our time, our talent and our treasure as a way of deepening our faith in God. We regularly provide opportunities for monthly seminars, workshops and classes that teach biblical stewardship.

1 Corinthians 4:2, ”Moreover it is required in stewards that one be found faithful.”

Recreation Ministry

The Recreation Ministry provides activities and recreation to meet the spiritual needs of church members, regular attendees and visiting community members.
Acts 2:42, “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Evangelism Ministry

Our mission is to continue to spread the gospel by our words and action, in our families, local communities and abroad.

Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”

Women’s Ministry

The Women’s Ministry aims to connect women’s hearts to the Gospel and nurture them on their faith journey. Through the prayerful application of God’s Word, we inspire, equip, support and disciple women to live in God’s purpose.

Proverbs 31:30, “Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.”

Spirit Care Ministry

The Spirit Care Ministry supports families in the church and in the community who are in crisis, whether they be homeless or have a financial need. In addition, we provide encouragement and comfort to church members and friends whose loved ones are sick or have passed away.

Matthew 25:36, “I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’”

Outreach Ministry

Harvest (Outreach) Mission is to provide education, counseling, college and career services, clothing and food drives, and special events by partnering with local churches, organizations, and businesses. This will enable us to fellowship and share the love of God with our Odenton/Severn communities.

2 Corinthian 9:10,
“He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your righteousness. “

Men’s Ministry

The OCG Men’s Ministry aims to bridge the gap between current experiences faced by young and older Christians through mentorship, open dialogue and purpose-driven activities. Our mission is to be accountable to our brothers no matter the circumstance. We choose not to shy away from chastising each other lovingly when we fall short because we believe we are our brother’s keeper. Our vision includes reaching into the community through partnership with local schools and ongoing activities such as food distribution and clothing drives. Our promise to God is to be fishers of men. Therefore, it is our goal to grow in membership, trust, dedication and commitment in order to reach our community, prisons, the sick and home-bound brothers in an even greater way.

Proverbs 27:17, “As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”

Singles Ministry

Our mission is to teach singles to be successful where God has them in their season of single hood as well as help prepare them for where they are called and where they have asked God to take them. Our vision is to build kingdom relationships and lifestyles on biblical principles.

Philippians 2:2, “fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.”

Marriage Ministry

Our mission is to create opportunities for couples to build and strengthen healthy marriages in order to connect them as one flesh. This will be accomplished by sharing God’s Word and by teaching the necessary tools to build healthy, God-honoring marital relationships that will have life-changing results.

Mark 10:8, “and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh.”

Seniors and Widows Ministry

The Seniors and Widows Ministry seeks to love, encourage and serve our widows and seniors by recognizing and honoring them with a variety of unique services. We also lovingly support those with any physical or special needs.

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will direct your paths.”

Hospitality & Prayer

Service Ministry

The Service Ministry aims to continuously provide a hospitable service to the OCG brethren and guests whom God sends to us to be ministered to. We hope to do so heartily to the glory of God such that everyone will have a memorable experience that will make them look forward to coming back to OCG. The Service Ministry includes greeters, sanctuary, ushers and hospitality.

Hebrews 13:1-2, “Let brotherly love continue. Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some have unwittingly entertained angels.”

Facilities Ministry

Our desire is to use our facility as a beacon of light to the community. An environment of peace and comfort is what we hope to create when our facility is opened to the public.

Isaiah 56:7, “Even them I will bring to My holy mountain, And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.”

Intercessory Prayer Ministry

Intercessory Ministry’s mission is to see God’s will done on earth by kneeling on His promises through fervent prayers.

Matthew 6:10, “Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.”
