Reverend Sherise Webb, Lead Pastor

Passion and pursuit are the defining words to characterize the mission of Pastor Sherise Webb. Her passion for education and training is seen in her work as an educator in the local school system in which she has served for over 25 years. Pastor Webb became a licensed minister in the Church of God on December 13, 2000. Her calling has continued to lead her on a journey in partnering with all ages to unfold God’s unique purposes and plans through serving in the Odenton Community alongside her husband, Min. Damon Webb and son, Isaiah Webb.

Bishop Eddie Sweeney, Pastor Emeritus

Eddie Sweeney is the Pastor Emeritus of Odenton Church of God. He has been married to the love of his life, Pastor Yvonne Sweeney, for 30 years.  They both are credentialed with the Church of God, Cleveland, Tennessee.  He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the National Bible College and Seminary and a Master’s degree in Pentecostal Theology from the Pentecostal Theological Seminary, Cleveland, Tennessee. She holds a Bachelor’s and Master’s from Lee University, Cleveland, Tennessee. They have two adult children, Jaqueline and Jonathan. Their pride is their two grandsons: Isaiah and Carter.

Eddie and Yvonne grew up in the church and both accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their savior as children. In 1990, Pastor Sweeney began pastoring in Mt. Rainier, Maryland where he has taken that congregation to three different locations.  In 2008, the final place for this vibrant and hungry congregation found its home at the Odenton Church of God.

Pastor Eddie feels that as Christians we have a responsibility to share the Gospel of Christ and to always be studying and willing to serve the community. Pastor Sweeney and his wife, Yvonne, have been keynote speakers at crusades, conventions and training seminars in various countries. Pastor Sweeney has also has served on various training boards in the Church of God, Delmarva-DC region.  At this time, he is serving on the CAMS Board here in the Delmarva-DC region for the Church of God.  This has given him the opportunity to help with training entry-level pastors. He believes this has been one of the most rewarding opportunities he has been given in that he is able to impact the next generation of pastoral ministers.

In Isaiah 55:6, we are instructed to, “Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near.” Just knowing that God is ever present is what will keep us through this season.
